The University of Indonesia’s School of Strategic and Global Studies (SKSG) welcomes Marco Kamiya as a non-resident fellow
Marco Kamiya is the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Representative based in Jakarta, overseeing Indonesia, the Philippines, and Timor-Leste. He previously served as the Chief of the UNIDO Digital Transformation and AI Strategies Division at UNIDO Headquarters in Vienna, Austria, and as the Chief of the Urban Economy Branch at UN-Habitat in Nairobi, Kenya. Before that, he worked with CAF Development Bank for Latin America and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Washington, D.C. He studied international development at Harvard University and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Enna, Italy.
As part of collaboration activities with the School of Strategic and Global Studies (SKSG), UNIDO’s Marco Kamiya will deliver a seminar for graduate students and professionals in Global Affairs. The seminar will cover critical global issues such as (i) Global Development, (ii) Urban Economy, (iii) Industrial Policy, and (iv) Innovation Ecosystems and Frontier Technologies. In addition to these topics, the seminar will emphasize cross-cutting issues such as sustainability, gender studies, and business security, areas in which both SKSG and UNIDO are actively involved.
The collaboration between SKSG and UNIDO will also incorporate regional perspectives from Southeast Asia, Europe, North America, Latin America, and Africa. These sessions will explore practical solutions to global challenges, highlighting the intersection of gender equity, business security, and sustainable development.
